Caldari Battleship - Medusa by MoonredStarblack Caldari Battleship - Medusa by MoonredStarblack
MEDUSA

Amarrian / Caldari hybrid Battleship concept

Developer: Kaalakiota Corporation / Khanid Innovation

Joint project of Kaalakiota Corporation and Khanid Innovation.

Battleship Medusa is the first work of these two industry giants and also the first joint engineer work of Amarr Empire and Caldari State.

Despite the fact that technicians from both empires were working on the project together, decission was made to use Caldari type of hull. Amarr shares in Medusa's construction are almost unnoticable from the outside, but the interior is filled with Empire's components and technologies. The latest nanotechnology allowed the use a little more efficient reactor and to choose between both types of arnament typical for Caldari State and Amarr Empire.

The ship is equipped with six hi-slots, and four of them are compatibile with both missile launchers and other turrets - preferably lasers. This feature opens extremely wide range of fitiing options, and that makes Medusa most versalite battleship in Caldari fleet.

Dillema between solid shields and hard armor was solved in the Caldari way, giving this unit a much more powerful shields at the expense of weaker hull and armor. It was natural consequence of accepting the Caldari hull project during the early project phase. Amarr engineers were quite displeased of Caldari leadership over the project, but the economic factor was the decisive one - over seventy percent of these powerful ships were produced in the Amarr Empire shipyards, and then sold to the Caldari Navy.

Thx for comments guys. Im trying to make those models to fit in EVE universe just by adding proper textures on it. I think it is most important. I know that all models in game are low poly but textures work (even if Im able to see only worst quality one) is just pure epicness.

So Im keeping poly count as low as it is possible (lol, my hardwere config is helping a lot ) without any bigger changes in concept.

Also Im using ships images as references during early concept phase. I can easly say If somthing fit into design or not. And Im trying to not cross through some kind of "tiny red line" which mean leaving from main details which state caldari ship as caldari and minmatar design as minmatar.

Im still keeping some designs cuz I have to finish layout for them. Also some still need colors. Also Im working on discriptions for all my models. I think they need.. introduction.

I hope You enjoy my models as much as I do.

Nice work, MM. As it was said by Surlybadger, it perfectly fits the Caldari desing doctrine. A solid military construction without any unneccesary details.
